The Kingdom of Nepal, which is located below the Himalayas mountain range is a multi-ethnic and multi-lingual country renowned for its elegant art, colorful festivals and traditional culture. When visitors are in the ancient heritage of palaces, temples and monasteries, they will feel as though they are going through the time tunel back to the past. That is why this is the ideal place for both tourists and photographers.

In December, which  was  the  beginning  of  winter  in  Nepal. Our PAS member-team  led by leader of expedition  group  arrived  in  Kathmandu, capital  of  Nepal  and  started  our  7 days  photographic  expedition. The superb art and subtle culture together with the  beautiful scenery and historical monuments had provided numerous themes for our  creations

Firstly, we visited  “Nagarkot”  a  village  which  appeared  like  a  fairyland  under  the  mist.  A long winding lane linked the houses and farms which were partially covered by  the  mist created an oil-painting type of  scenery. Our team-mates rushed down from  the  bus, set up our tripods and  aimed our cameras at the best  possible angles under the chilling wind. When the right  moments arrived, we could  hear the continuous shuttle -release  sound, everyone had the idea of rather wasting  more  film  than  to  miss  a  good  shot

You only need to learn a simple greeting “Na-mas-te” to travel in Nepal. Especially in the  remote  villages, when the local people saw our team packed with bulky and clumsy  equipment hunting for subjects, they would  follow  us  excitedly  and  some  would  even  act as our interpreter to instruct the Nepal people to pose for us. A sweets or a pencil was   sufficient to please a child while we captured his innocent expressions with  numerous  rolls of films.

For all the 7 days, we had good  sunlight as though we had brought the sun with us from  Singapore. Our next target was Pokhara,Phewa Lake. The  best moment to capture  the  serene lake scene was at dawn when the whole lake was covered by the mist. When the  sun  started to rise, the heat would cause the lake to turn into bubbling waters and the  peaks of Mt. Annapurna would turn golden .One of the best Salon shots was to  take  Mt.  Annapurna  with her reflection on the lake and a lonely boat at the golden section

On the way back, we visited the Tibetain village which was imbued with mysterious  culture. We captured the scenes of the little Lama playing wildly outside the  temple  and  a  religious Tibetian  lady  performing the full bowing ritual. After one day of  hard work.  We enjoyed our dinner at  “Hungry  Eye” restaurant by the lake side

Back in Kathmandu, our team visited “Durbard Square”,“Pashupathinath”which was  where the Nepal people burnt the corpses and poured the ashes into the holy river. At  “Swayambhunath”  Stupa, we could see the 4 pairs of  holy eyes staring at us. As the  location was packed with tourists and beggars, we only managed to take some record  shots for memories.

In this 7 days, our team-mates  had  a  lot of photography interactions and I felt that  learning  to have a  positive attitude towards photography was the best reward that  I  go  from this trip.
